Preamble

Is your dad impossible to shop for?  Mine sure is.  After countless years of Christmas and birthday gifts that missed the mark I was officially all out of ideas, and figured I'd try my hand at the personal, home-made gift again.  But what the hell do you do when you're 32 and the construction paper cutout of the turkey drawn from the silhouette of your right hand just doesn't pass muster?  I decided to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboad in my case, since my handwriting is utter crap) and try writing down some of thoughts and feelings I had about cycling, and then cram it into a manila evelope, slap a bow on it and call it a gift.  This actually fell into the two-birds-with-one-stone gift category since by writing about biking I was also able to explain more fully just what it was I was spending all my time on.  What began as a 30 page rationale for the inordinate amount of time I spent on two wheels has now burgeoned to become a 70,000 word behemoth.  I've broken it down into chapters.  Take a look if you like.  At times I think some of it is pretty good.  At others I think it's a pretentious pile of horse hockey.  Every Christmas or July 31 (dad's birthday) I usually have more to add.  Lemme know what you think.
